ACHC Partners with the American Sleep and Breathing Academy (ASBA)

ACHC Partners with the American Sleep and Breathing Academy (ASBA)   Cary, NC- Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) is pleased to announce a newly-formed partnership with the American Sleep and Breathing Academy (ASBA). The partnership between the two organizations allows ASBA to provide sleep facilities with educational support for ACHC accreditation. In turn, ACHC will offer ASBA members special pricing for their nationally-recognized sleep accreditation program.   The American Sleep and Breathing Academy is an established educational institution incorporating a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of sleep disorders. The organization has been designed by professionals to serve the community at large while educating technicians and other medical providers in the field of sleep disorders and sleep wellness.

Keynote Speaker to Present Narcolepsy Findings at Sleep & Wellness Conference

Keynote Speaker to Present Narcolepsy Findings at Sleep & Wellness Conference The American Sleep & Breathing Academy (ASBA) announced that Dr. Emmanuel Mignot will be a keynote speaker at Sleep & Wellness 2014: A Conference for Professionals. The conference will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 1-3, 2014. Dr. Mignot will present his newest research findings on diagnosing narcolepsy in patients. All conference attendees are invited to attend Dr. Mignot’s speech. Mignot is a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University and the director of the Stanford Center for Sleep Sciences and Medicine. He is internationally recognized for discovering the cause of narcolepsy. Most of his current research focuses on the neurobiology, genetics and immunology of narcolepsy, a disorder caused by hypocretin (orexin) cell loss, with indirect interest in the neuroimmunology of other brain disorders. His laboratory uses state of the art human genetics techniques, such as genome wide association, exome or whole genome sequencing in the study of human sleep and sleep disorders, with parallel studies in animal models. His laboratory is also interested in web-based assessments of sleep disorders, computer-based processing of polysomnography (PSG), and outcomes research.
